Hydrographic Survey

Veolia Environmental Services offers hydrographic survey services to support subsea projects. Hydrographic survey is the science of measuring and describing subsea features, such as shorelines and submerged obstructions, which can affect navigation, marine construction, dredging and offshore oil exploration.

Advanced Technology for More Accurate Hydrographic Surveys in Less Time

Veolia uses advanced technology to give you the highest possible degree of accuracy in hyrdrographic surveys for your industrial application and geographic area.

Veolia hydrographic surveys are performed with the most advanced equipment available, including:

  • Multi-beam Sonar
  • Shallow Water Array Sonar: The Veolia Array Surveyor is a pontoon-style vessel custom designed to for shallow water survey (less then 2 feet of water).
  • Dual-frequency 150/600 Khz Tow-Fish side-scan sonar
  • High-resolution Edgetech sub-bottom sonar
  • Imagenex 881 sector-scan sonar: The sector-scan sonar is deployed for obstacle avoidance, target location and interior pipeline scans.
  • Accurate positioning systems: Veolia teams use commercial-grade DGPS with submeter accuracy as a standard for all survey work and RTK systems capable of reporting positions within +/- 2-3 cm when great accuracy and reliable vertical reference is critical. Total-station survey is used for limited applications.
  • Four ocean-going support vessels providing dive support, remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) support and multi-purpose support for marine projects—the Kingfisher, the Swordfish, the Viking Poseidon and the Normand Pacific.
